FEAST’S NEW US TASK FORCE CHAIR WANTS TO MEET YOU AT BEDA/NEDA
WHAT: F.E.A.S.T’S NEW US TASK FORCE CHAIR WANTS TO MEET YOU AT BEDA/NEDA
WHERE: BROOKLYN, NOV 2-4
WHO: PARENTS/CARERS
LET’S CONNECT DURING THE BEDA CONFERENCE
WEEKEND WHETHER YOU CAN ATTEND OR NOT!
It’s the one-week countdown to BEDA/NEDA
2017 in Brooklyn, NY and I am will be there and am very excited. Advocates,
researchers, and family members will be gathering to learn and share and
network. As the new US Task Force Chair for F.E.A.S.T. I’m excited to help
gather and introduce and get to know as many families in the community that I
can!
If you are going to be in Brooklyn as part
of attending the conference, or just in the area and want to meet others,
please contact me! You can email me at [email protected], or leave comments on this post, or
private message me. It’s the perfect way to meet oodles of passionate, smart
people.
I already know some of those who will be
there, including F.E.A.S.T.’s Outreach Director, Laura Collins Lyster-Mensh,
and of course BEDA Director, Chevese Turner. If you and I haven’t met yet, I am
a multi-passionate person who is extremely mission oriented and have embraced
those attributes in aligning with multiple groups and working through many organizations
and on many campaigns as my activism has progressed. I am proud to have lobbied
with the Eating Disorders Coalition, which brings together advocates and
activists across the USA to work toward legislative change. It’s an inspiring
thing to be part of and an organizational wonder and you should definitely do
it. I am part of the incredible peer support communities EDPS and the ATDT FB
page, and am a co-founder of World Eating Disorders Action Day, plus I run a
support group in San Diego with Project HEAL. I am a peer mentor for UC San
Diego where we got (incredible, lifesaving) treatment for my daughter’s
anorexia in 2012/2013. (Oh, and I work full-time in education administration.)
Our goal with the US Task Force at
F.E.A.S.T is a lofty and achievable one: We want to unite parents on a global
level and empower them on a local level. We have TFs in Canada, the UK, New
Zealand/Australia, with plans for more.
If you are going to be (or can arrange to
be) in Brooklyn November 3 or 4, let’s get together to exchange war stories,
support those in the trenches, and brainstorm ways to change the world!
Looking forward to meeting with you and working with you
JD Ouellette
